  Range Rover Sport gearbox stuck in 3rd gear – any idea what that could be?

  I’m having a scary issue with my 2017 Range Rover Sport – yesterday on the way home from work, the transmission suddenly got stuck in 3rd gear and wouldn’t shift up or down, even in manual mode. I pulled over, turned the car off and on, and it started working normally again, but I’m terrified it’ll happen on the highway. No warning lights on the dash, and the fluid level looks okay from what I can see. A friend who had a similar problem on his Discovery told me to Get More Info about the ZF 8-speed valve body failures, because apparently they can cause exactly this kind of limp mode. Has anyone here dealt with a Range Rover transmission going into limp mode without any codes? I’m based in Sharjah near Industrial Area 5, so if you know a gearbox specialist who actually understands these units and won’t just recommend a full replacement, please let me know. Really hoping it’s just a mechatronic issue and not something that needs a full rebuild.
