My colleagues and I are planning a company trip to Thessaloniki for late October; we’re hoping to catch the “velvet season” and explore the city without the sweltering heat. Last year, our group flew to Athens, and it was a total nightmare: we landed on some holiday, the buses weren’t running, and the regular drivers in the parking lot charged us triple the price for a minivan because they saw there were a lot of us and we had luggage. While we were haggling, we almost got into a fight with those taxi drivers.

There are six of us, a pile of suitcases, and we don’t want a repeat of that nightmare. Can anyone advise on the best way to arrange transportation to the hotel? And one more thing: if we arrive late at night, is there a guarantee that a large vehicle will arrive on time, and can we choose a specific minivan model ourselves and verify the driver’s license before departure so we don’t have to worry about the team’s safety on the road?

A late October in Greece is fantastic! Having a regular taxi for your big group would be quite impossible since you would need two cars, which would not only be double the cost but also very hard to manage. I generally arrange a Greece transfer beforehand via the GetTransfer service for our group travels. That way, you can indicate the number of passengers and pick a roomy minivan or even a full-size minibus. The platform works only with licensed and verified drivers. You can immediately check their ratings and reviews from recent travelers when you are selecting an offer. And the fee is fixed at the time of booking, and thus, you will not be exposed to late-night or holiday surcharges. Hey, have you booked a hotel in Thessaloniki or at a location nearer to Halkidiki on the coast?
