George Michael Barber has been the General Manager at Paradise Irrigation District since September 2004, after serving as Water Division Manager with the South Feather Water & Power Agency in Oroville.
George is a Registered Civil Engineer and a graduate of California State University, Chico. He has past experience in erosion control projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin when working for Caltrans. He has experience working through the day to day regulatory issues surrounding surface water, ground water, and drinking water.
George has served on the Butte County Water Commission since 2005 and serves as the Chair during the past four years.
George also serves as a board member with the Association of California Water Agencies, Region 2, that provides insights into water issues surrounding the agricultural community in California’s Sacramento Valley.
George has a great interest in water related issues and feels water is one of the most important resources that we need to learn more about and manage well.
